Restaurants Remain Open and Continue to Serve Customers as Usual
RALEIGH, North Carolina, December 31, 2024 – The Little Mint, Inc. (the “Company”), doing business as Hwy 55 Burger Shakes & Fries restaurants, filed a voluntary petition under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the Eastern District of North Carolina today. The case is pending before the Honorable Joseph N. Callaway and administered under case number 24-04510- 5-JNC.
The Company expects to use the time and legal protections made available through the Chapter 11 restructuring process to allow the Company to explore strategic alternatives in order to ensure the long-term viability of the brand. The Company has 22 corporate-owned restaurants and has franchised the brand to 71 franchisees. The majority of the restaurants are located throughout the Southeast.
All franchisee locations are independently owned and are open and serving customers as usual. The Company’s restaurants will remain open and operating as usual during the Chapter 11 process, continuing to provide their delicious hand-pattied burgers and cheesesteaks to their customers.
The Company has filed motions with the Bankruptcy Court that, when approved, will allow the Company to, among other things, continue its customer programs in the normal course. The Company intends to use the proceedings to drive operational improvements and simplify the business as a result of recent store closings.
“The primary driver of our financial challenges resulted from costs and labor shortages associated with COVID-19, which unfortunately coincided with our brand expansion. This restructuring will allow our restaurants to continue to serve our beloved customers in towns and communities through the United States and support our hardworking employees. I have never been more excited about the future of this company,” said Kenney Moore, President.
The Company’s legal advisors are Hendren, Redwine & Malone, PLLC. We switched to a new app for several reasons. First and foremost, we wanted you, the guest, to have the best possible experience with our loyalty program. Second, the new app features amazing features such as mobile and online ordering! Lastly, we feel this change will benefit our guests and Hwy 55 as we continue to expand.
The biggest thing you will notice when navigating this app is that there is nowhere to scan your receipt. That’s right, no more struggling with cameras and faded receipt codes!
The new process is very seamless. If you are dining in one of our locations, your server will ask you if you are a loyalty member when you order. Once you confirm and they look up your account via email or phone number, that’s it! Your points from your visit will be added automatically when you check out.
Just like the My Hwy 55 app, each dollar you spend translates to 5 points. At the end of each visit, your points will automatically go into your account. Log in to your account on the app or at hwy55.com/rewards and redeem your points for rewards. The next time you head to Hwy 55, just tell your server you have a reward to redeem, and you’re all set!
The physical Loyalty Cards serve as a way to identify yourself as a Hwy 55 Rewards member. Instead of giving your server your email or phone number, they would scan your card instead. It’s not necessary to use a Loyalty Card – all the same functionality can be found at hwy55.com/rewards or on the new app.
Yes! Once you download the new Hwy 55 Rewards app, you will be able to log in with your existing My Hwy 55 credentials, and you will see all existing points!
Yes! Within the Hwy 55 Rewards app, navigate to the “Recent Orders” button from the main menu. Here you will see all of your previous transactions.
You can find the app in the App Store and on Google Play. Once you download the app, you will need to create an account or log in with your existing account. You can choose to sign up with your email address and phone number, or you can connect your Facebook or Google account. Email contact@hwy55.com if you have any trouble logging into your pre-existing account.
